The challenge
What this project had to solve.
The challenge: a historic home called for a floor pattern with real period character, but it still had to stand up to ordinary modern life — not become a museum piece. What we did: we chose European oak in a herringbone layout, planned the pattern off a precise centerline so it reads intentional in every sightline, and sealed it with a hardwax oil that's repairable and built for traffic. The result: a floor that looks like it has always belonged in the home and is made to keep earning that look for years.
Scope of work
Across the main floor of a historic Coronado home, we installed a precision herringbone pattern in European oak. Herringbone lives or dies on layout: we set the pattern from a true centerline so it ran clean into every doorway and transition, kept the angles tight board to board, and finished the floor in a durable hardwax oil that suits a home in daily use. The result is a period-correct floor that honors the home's age without feeling fragile.
